heavy rain at night makes everything look ominous. clumps of leaves drown in puddles of sludge and water, and the wind throws large droplets down from the trees, aiding the puddles in their mass leaf execution. windshield wipers and headlights attempt to clear, to brighten, but rubber and metal and plastic and glass are little help against the shaking of the sky, against the dark wet motion that casts on everything a shadow of foreboding.
