as a houston driver myself, i have to comment on this, the every-other-car etiquette of merging traffic. i once met this guy who had just moved here from england, and he was asking me questions about driving.
“so what happens if two lanes merge into one and there’s a lot of traffic?”
“it goes every other car. you take turns.”
“well what if there isn’t a lot of traffic and everyone’s going really fast? which side goes first?”
“whichever one is least chicken.”
houston driving is an extreme sport.
