this morning after my final i was in the office supply section of kmart, looking for the exact right address book / planner / notebook thingy. at my kmart, the office supply section is right next to the electronics, and one aisle over, a stereo played loudly, drowning out the canned music over the p.a. system. when i arrived in the office supply aisle, the stereo was playing eiffel 65‘s “blue (da ba dee),” a detestable song, if ever i’ve heard one (and believe me, i have), but hardly a surprising one to hear playing on a boom box at kmart. next, though, they played the velvet underground’s “beginning to see the light,” and i almost exploded, right there among the day planners and filing systems. the velvet underground at kmart? jesus.
the next song was some sort of waylon jennings thing, and i got the hell out of there.
