so i’ve pretty much quit watching television. i haven’t seen a single commercial, edited-for-television-and-formatted-to-fit-your-screen movie, or even a simpsons episode in almost a month now. in my old apartment i’d inadvertently cultivated an atmosphere where i didn’t know what to do with myself if the tv wasn’t on. i felt lonely and bored if it wasn’t at least on in the background and i was annoyed when i missed my favorite shows, but i was jealous of those people i knew that seemed so productive. i spent half the time worrying about all the good ideas i had that i never did anything with, and the other half feeling uninspired because i never had any good ideas. so i’ve tried hard to prevent this new apartment from lending itself to excessive television-watching, and thus far i’ve succeeded. oh, i did watch one episode of buffy: the vampire slayer at a friend’s house. can’t be misrepresenting myself here.

so now i have a list of about fifteen projects and ideas and generally productive things that i should do, and i’m making an effort to work on at least one of them every day, in no particular order. some of them are bigger than others, but it’s always a great feeling to cross one off the list, no matter how small it is.
cleaning out my closet and sending the stuff to goodwill was the first. the box is huge.
this was the second.
my submission to this was the third. take a look if you like. i’m pretty proud of it, but i keep reediting it in my head.
as for the other eleven, i’ll keep you posted.

i got a dvd! since there’s a dvd player on my new computer, one of my coworkers sold me his being john malkovich dvd because he didn’t like it that much, which, in that case, he doesn’t deserve to own such a great movie anyway. but i do! and now whenever i get my computer home, i can watch it on my 19″ monitor which is much bigger than my 13″ television anyway. that is pretty sad, when your computer monitor is bigger than your television. neither one has a remote, though. but this is great! now i’m definitely in the upper echelon of home technology owners. or whatever.

i always think of a million things to blog when i’m watching tv, but never when i’m on the internet. sort of defeats the purpose of a WEBlog, does it not? i should call it a TVlog. i forget most of the potential tv blogs ten minutes later. my attention span is FINE, i assure you.
