Right now I’m sick of every band that isn’t Interpol, Stars, the National, Wolf Parade, or Helvetia. I want to listen to something else!
Right now I’m sick of every band that isn’t Interpol, Stars, the National, Wolf Parade, or Helvetia. I want to listen to something else!
Or the Pixies.
You’re sick of every band that’s NOT those bands? Then I suggest you listen to some Pixies!
Hey, THANKS, INTERNET DUDE.
Fleet Foxes! That’s all I have to say bout that.
Done, Ryan Z. I also bought Santogold, the My Bloody Valentine album I didn’t have, and the new Helvetia.
I second Fleet Foxes and mention (again) Bowerbirds.
Oh man. I just figured out that Beth Tacular of the Bowerbirds is a friend of my friend Lisa. She told me an anecdote once about her friend Beth who changed her last name to Tacular. How funny.
Do you know Stereolab? They’ve been around a long time, so you probably already do, but I downloaded some Helvetia at your suggestion. I really liked it, made me think of sort of a Sonic Youth meets Stereolab. So thought maybe you’d like them.
Music I’m excited about lately:
Fleet Foxes, although I haven’t yet picked up their album
Yeasayer, but also haven’t picked up their album
Hotels
Battles
Annuals (still, and hey their new album is due out soon)
XTC. Or Jesus & Mary Chain, depending.
have you tried any of Spencer Krug’s other bands? Then try Sunset Rubdown. ex.cell.ent.
I did try Sunset Rubdown, but I wasn’t so into them. Which is a shame, because I’m obsessed with Wolf Parade. Maybe I’ll try them again.
Oh, I agree. I favor Wolf Parade as well, but Snake’s Got a Leg has it’s moments. My fav’s are ‘handsome vulture’ and ‘stadiums and shrines’.
Oh another possibility: My Morning Jacket.
frightened rabbit! “the modern leper” is the niftiest angry indie song i’ve heard all year, but it makes me stomp with happiness.
Here’s a few:
* Renegade Soundwave (80’s post-punk way ahead of their time)
* Gun Club (80’s L.A. punk band with country twang)
* Yelle (French disco-pop music, sounds a bit like early Madonna)
* The Stooges (enough said)
* Ladytron (Electro/New Wave)
p.s. long time reader, I post a comment about once every 3 years.
Kings of Leon
That’s amazing. We should introduce Beth to my buddy, Ted Sticular.
